I thought I had my outfit for the Dances of Vice: Shipwreck Ball all planned out, but I was inspired to try something new at the last minute. ;o; Still not completely sure what I'm going to wear. I do have a lot of piratey things... more than I thought!

I went to the midnight showing of New Moon on Thursday with Miakoda and it was so good. *o* Not even speaking as a Twilight fan here, but to me the film itself was good. I don't care if the New York Times and just about every hip kid disagrees with me.

The first movie was embarrassingly bad, a cinematic failure for which I hold the nightmare duo of Catherine Hardwicke and Robert Pattinson responsible. However, this new director Chris Weitz seems to have some sort of filter that Hardwicke was missing (seriously, if you watched the dvd extras on the first film, you can see she's a complete spazz).

And the sheer amount of Jacob made me very happy! He's my favorite character from the series so I was prepared to be picky, but I think Taylor Lautner did a good job portraying him. Why is he 17? I'll never forget sitting in the car with Koda after the movie and frantically searching wikipedia to confirm his age. I'm going to hell.

Do you guys get tired of my posting pictures of things I buy? I like doing it because it's pretty because it helps me put my spending habits in perspective. I always put the pictures behind a cut to save your flists, so at least that's something. :3 On that note, here are some more things I picked up lately... some have arrived already and some haven't: )

Dances of Vice: The Dwindling Party was amazing. I wish I had brought my phone with me and gotten pictures, but alas no. My favorite part of the evening was listening to This Ambitious Orchestra. The conductor/singer was the hot accordion player, Benjamin Ickies, from DOV: The Cursed Circus. ;o; Cut for the rest of the entry, including photos from Sunday! )

This last weekend was amazing. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons, so I was really excited about visiting Poughkeepsie again to experience all the delights of fall. I'm jealous of where you live, Bianca! Cut for pictures... check out how awesome my cell phone camera is ♥ )

Ok.... Halloween weekend is going to be jam-packed with activities! Saturday I want to try a haunted house in the afternoon and then Dances of Vice: The Dwindling Party in the evening. As far as haunted houses go, I've made a list:

Blood Manor
Oops, too late at night!

Nightmare: Vampires

Random haunted house? Couldn't find a name.
This one's out too because you have to walk through it alone! @m@

Merchant's House Candlelight ghost tour
Looks awesome, but probably not scary enough.
Let's go another time for sure!

If anyone knows of any other haunted houses in New York City that do things during the day, please let me know! Shall we vote?

After all that, Sunday is the Disney meetup and I'm still not sure what to wear... I was going to do Ariel, but now I don't want to spend more money on an outfit. I guess I'm being cheap because there are so many activities coming soon. There's got to be a way to come up with something using what I already have!

I could use my Meta bordeaux velvet jsk for Belle's snow-fight ensemble from Beauty and the Beast... or maybe the IW Dwarf Story jsk for Snow White? I don't want to do something too literal.

I also don't who is going as what character, so I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Friday: The LOTR concert screening was AMAZING. Hearing the music live was thrilling... I would have been content with just that, but having the movie play in the background was mind-blowing. The massive choir was especially good and the soloists unbelievable. Elijah Wood and Billy Boyd took a bow on stage at the end during the applause. @m@ I'm definitely going again next year for The Two Towers! I would only recommend it to die-hard Lord of the Rings fans, though.

Note to self: When traveling to NYC on Friday afternoon, drive to Hamilton and take the New Jersey Transit train instead of the bus. Traffic was horrendous and nearly made me miss the concert! D:

Saturday: Bianca and I slept in and then explored the town of New Paltz, a tiny place full of thrift store, antique shops, restarants, students, and hippies. Cut for pictures... )

I'm leaving work early today to go to the LOTR concert screening at Radio City Music Hall with Bianca! I ♥ Lord of the Rings. I love the books. I love the movies. I own the special edition dvds and LotR Trivial Pursuit. ::phew::
I'm so ready to geek out!
I decided to be comfortable and wear my BtSSB She is Sleeping jsk with a turtleneck and tights because it's supposed to be chilly and rainy tonight.

Last night I cleaned my entire room and re-dressed my mannequin in lolita/morigirl hybrid style:

I really want some curtains and a new bedspread, but something comfortable and natural-looking that won't clash with my seafoam green walls.

Btw, in case anyone was wondering, Kelsey, Miakoda, and I did a group order for our kigurumi from Marron & Kuriya and I got the wolf:

I'm pleased with my choice. I can't wait for Where the Wild Things Are!

Look at my new layout! It's vaguely forest-y to match my favorite thick-necked fawn icon.

NYAF was great this year! I took some pictures, but none of myself (good planning) Wait, Petrina got one of me that shows my hair from Saturday! I'm just going to lump them all together... )

Where the Wild Things Are is coming up October 16th and the trailers have me ready to cry with nostalgia. 8o8 That Arcade Fire song has me crying already! Let's have a

Dances of Vice: Cursed Circus was incredible! Definitely my favorite one so far. We danced, we cavorted, we ate cups of ice, we didn't go to bed until 4 am... very, very good times. I didn't get any shots of my outfit on my camera, but you can find some in Kelsey's lj entry or on facebook. Cut for pictures! )

I can't wait for the Grand Shipwreck Ball!

Heroes premiere: Zachary Quinto looks good holding a baby.
ABDC: I hope everyone voted for We Are Heroes!

Any die hard LOTR fans out there? I really want to go to the special concert/screening at Radio City Music Hall, but it's kind of expensive and not as much fun to go alone.

Photobucket

NYAF is tomorrow, so I leave on the bus tonight. I'm wearing lolita all 3 days and really looking forward to it! I haven't decided which outfit for which day yet, but here's the rundown:

Outfit 1
IW ivory & navy roses jsk
navy blouse x tights
light brown fur stole x boots
pearls
ivory rose corsage

Outfit 2
VM ivory & black rose flocked chiffon jsk
black blouse x tights x boots
pearls
black rose corsages

Outfit 3
Meta ivory Swan Lake jsk
I can't decide whether to wear ivory blouse x tights or pink blouse x tights with this, so I'm bringing both
light brown boots
pearls
ivory rose corsage

It's the weekend of cream, apparently. O_o I didn't realize I had chosen outfits of the same color until I made this list! I really do need some ivory-colored boots to replace my old ones.

I won 2 free tickets to see AKB48, so Koda and I will go to that right before Kokusyoku Sumire! XD Sunday is probably going to be the busiest day with the fashion show, AKB48, and Kokusyoku Sumire. I don't have any definite plans for the other days. What is everyone else doing?

Last night, [info]a_dropofcolour and I went to see an extended preview of scenes from the upcoming movie Avatar-- not "The Last Airbender" Avatar, but "James Cameron's" Avatar. Believe me, I wish it had been the first one!

It's almost all 3-D CG animation from what we saw, though the beginning is live-action. I'll admit that the scenes we saw were visually stunning, but look forward to lots of elogated half-dressed cat people in this film. The Hollywood executive who decided that look is sexy and entertaining needs to STOP. In the meantime, I had fun with the 3-D glasses. Cut for pictures! )

The city is beautiful. I want to visit again as soon as possible, no joke. Friendly people, hills, trees, sea breeze, trolleys, architecture, restaurants-- everything was perfect.
